Whether you’re new to classical music or are a die hard Bach fan, you’ll love this Friday’s show hosted by Charlotte Concerts at Halton Theater on CPCC’s Central Campus.

Presenting brilliant violinist Gil Shaham and pianist Akira Eguchi, who have both played in the foremost music centers in the United States, Europe and Asia, are not just taking the stage: They’re educating audiences and students on the high notes of their craft.

And thanks to Charlotte Concerts’ commitment to music education and enjoyment, audiences with get the best of both worlds.

Preview the show before the curtain rises. Gather in Tate Hall (in the same building as the concert) for a 20 minute question and answer session from 6:55 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. You’ll be able to learn more about Shaham and Eguchi’s performance style, and get a glimpse into classical music history.

Watch an outstanding local music student get honored. Before the show begins, board member Paul Anderson, who has a PhD in classical music, will go onstage to honor a noteworthy music student. “It’s a core part of our mission to bring recognition to those learning music in the community and at the beginning of the performance,” says Anderson.

Give back when you buy your ticket: Music education is a core tenant of the organization, and the price of your ticket goes right back into local schools. It allows Charlotte Concerts musicians, including Shaham and Eguchi, to make a first stop at a local school to perform for the students. The organization also donates instruments to schools on a regular basis thanks to ticket sales, allowing students to embrace music for themselves.
