Don’t miss Healthy Kids Day this Saturday, April 28 at the YMCA

If you or your kids have come down with a bad case of spring fever, this is the weekend to treat yourself. At YMCA branches all over the greater Charlotte area, families are invited for a fun, free day to rev up your spring and get ready for summer. Organizers want you to join the Y for Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 28 for a day of fun, family activities that are cool enough for the kids and the adults.

Enjoy games, family fitness and snacks with your neighbors and friends at the Y. Plus you can check out all the options for summer day camp, swim lessons and warm-weather fitness fun. Did we mention Healthy Kids Day is free for everybody? So grab a friend or two and make this the weekend you start counting down to summer.

Can’t make it but still ready to rock some flip-flops? Cruise by their branches later this week or surf their site to get your family’s summer day camp planned, your kids’ swimming skills pool-ready, or your own personal fitness options strengthened.

Make a splash with water at the Y

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte will host free water safety classes on Healthy Kids Day on April 28. Your family will learn basic safety skills to help around water spaces like pools, ponds and creeks, and you can learn more about the swim lesson programs the Y offers to give your kids (and yourself) the confidence they deserve in the water.

The Y is one of the only places that has year-round indoor swimming pools and they open their outdoor pools and water parks early on May 5 (and they keep them open until late September). That’s eight extra weeks of summer to splash around!

And when you’re at Healthy Kids Day on April 28, stop by to chat with a Y team member about the community water safety program the YMCA of Greater Charlotte founded in 2016 in an effort to prevent drowning across the community. Volunteer at a site near you or give a donation to support your neighbors through Safety Around Water.

Is your teen looking for a summer job? The Y is hiring!

Even your teen will find some fun at the Y – they’re hiring for summer camp counselors and lifeguards for those who are 16 years old or older. It’s a cool way to learn life skills, grow their leadership abilities and get paid too. Check out the options for a summer career at the Y here.
