This is your jam: enjoy these FREE concerts at Uptown parks this July

This July, you can experience your jam live at FREE concerts in and around Uptown Charlotte. These summer events are made for a night out with friends or that special someone. Or bring the entire family for a fantastic night under the stars!

Don’t let summer pass you by without humming along to top-notch entertainment at a great price. Plus with food trucks and local brews at the ready, all you have to do is grab a chair, bring your toe-tapping shoes and show up ready for a good time.

“Party in the Park” July 18 and 25 at Romare Bearden Park

Date: Wednesday, July 18
Time: 6 – 9 p.m.
Park locale: Romare Bearden Park, 300 S. Church St.
Performing: Carolina Soul Band
Why this is your jam: The Carolina Soul Band is your one-stop shop for all things sweet, soulful and beach-y. This band will have you dancing, clapping and moving and grooving with songs from The Drifters, The Coasters, The Four Tops, The O’Jays, Little Anthony and the the Imperials, Smokey Robinson and The Temptations, just to name a few.

Performing: The Magnificents
Why this is your jam:  Originally formed in the 1960s in Burlington, NC, the latest edition of this talented group hit the stage in 2006, pleasing crowds in the 12 years since. Four talented vocalists take turns wowing the crowd with soul, Motown, beach, top forty, dinner music and dance.

You can’t find a better venue than the picture-worthy Romare Bearden Park in Uptown Charlotte. Take the light rail for a truly Uptown experience! Exit at the 3rd St. and Convention Center stop.

“Live on the Green” July 27 at First Ward Park

Date: Friday, July 27
Time: 7 – 10 p.m.
Park locale: First Ward Park, 301 E. 7th St.
Performing: Time Sawyer with Scott Moss Band
Why this is your jam: If you like your music and your people as real as the tuna in your poke bowl, meet your new favorite band. Time Sawyer blends grassroots tunes with heart-tugging lyrics and masterfully brings it all together for an entertaining show that will leave you smiling. No matter your main groove – folk, alt-country or rock – they’ve got it all.

Join Time Sawyer and Scott Moss at the new First Ward Park. Leave the car at home and hop on the light rail (exit at 7th St. Station) to save money and the environment.

“Bearden Music Series” July 28 at Romare Bearden Park

Date: Saturday, July 28
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Park locale: Romare Bearden Park, 300 S Church Street
Performing: Sidecar Social Club
Why this is your jam: Life is like a box of chocolates with the Sidecar Social Club, you never know what groove is coming up next. From jazz tunes that transport you to the cabarets of wartime Berlin, to the excitement and pulse of Latin American dance halls or a feel-good tune inspired by big band and fifties rock, wherever this band takes you, you’ll be glad you came along.
