We’re only a quarter of the way through 2018, and it’s already been a big year for Unknown Brewing.

Just a few weeks ago, this craft brewery released Feather Light, Charlotte’s first light beer. Beyond that, Unknown has been hard at work renovating its space for months to make it the best it can possibly be for its patrons.

“We love this city. This is our home. We’re born and raised here,” said Scotty Kent, Marketing Director at Unknown Brewing. “So whether it’s the Brewers Charity Championship, the Panthers sendoff, the South End mural project, the “Buzzed City” collaboration beer with Bring Back the Buzz, or our beer dedicated to The Thirsty Beaver, we’re all about pushing and promoting the Charlotte culture.”

That’s why the team at Unknown decided it was time to renovate the taproom and add a rooftop bar. “Here at the Unknown, we are constantly looking to innovate and create,” said Kent. “So when it came to our renovations, we wanted to do right by our patrons. We heard what they wanted, and we responded.”

That’s why Unknown’s loyal patrons all been impatiently waiting for Unknown Brewing to finally unveil its new taproom and rooftop bar, and the time has finally come for the big reveal on Saturday, March 24.

“Over the past six months we have been undergoing massive half-a-million dollar renovations in our taproom and on our new rooftop patio,” said Kent. “We really believe this new space will give our patrons a craft beer experience like no other and a new favorite taproom.”

The rooftop bar will feature four beer taps and a crystal-clear view of the Charlotte skyline. Glass roll-up doors allow the space to transition easily from indoor to outdoor, perfect for those looking to grab a pint and bring it outside to enjoy a cold one in the warm Queen City sunshine.

In addition, 24 taps have been brought in downstairs in the taproom, including not just beer but wine, prosecco and cider. Additionally, the brewery’s infamous hop-cone chandelier has been relocated, and is now surrounded by a wraparound staircase leading to the new upstairs patio.

Come see the big unveiling at Unknown’s four-and-a-half year anniversary celebration, The 4.5ish Funk Fest. Unknown’s anniversary parties (whether celebrating full-year or half-year milestones) are always the biggest events the brewery hosts each year — and this year, for the first time ever, celebration will be totally free to attend.

The event will feature funky live music from Empire Strikes Brass, Bubonik Funk, Georgia Soul Council and The Up And Up. The brewery will also be releasing a special funky anniversary beer called 4.5ish, which will be a sour ale aged in oak with green figs.

“We are all about culture. We truly believe that is one of the things that separates us,” said Kent. “We are about promoting culture and giving it a space where it can thrive.”

And trust us, you don’t want to miss this celebration of Charlotte culture.

Head to Unknown Brewing (1327 S. Mint St.) for The 4.5ish Funk Fest on Saturday, March 24 from 1 – 10 p.m. to get funky on this new rooftop patio.
