The popular Charlotte Wine and Tapas Week is scheduled to start on October 13th and the Queen City’s culinary enthusiasts are gearing up for a taste tour around the world. Numerous restaurants will be featured this year and will offer guests two glasses of wine and a selection of delectable tapas packages. Each restaurant on the Charlotte Wine and Tapas Week list highlights flavors and dishes from countries around the world in a week-long celebration of the eclectic tastes of Charlotte.

Of course, a perfect fit for the week is Poplar Street Tapas Cafe and Wine Bar, with its selection of delicious tapas like tacos with smoked salmon and flatbread margaritas. Also in the Uptown area, Essex Bar and Bistro is returning this year with an offering of tapas that includes chorizo-stuffed fried olives, calamari and chicken dim sum. In addition to savory options, JP Charlotte is joining the fray with sweet tapas items like panna cotta with mango and walnut chutney and coffee and donut pairings.

Queen Park Social is opening its doors for Charlotte Wine and Tapas Week this year, with hot and cold tapas selections like tangy turkey meatballs and cream of avocado with basil chips, respectively. Kid Cashew will also be available for Charlotte Wine and Tapas Week aficionados with a wide menu of tapas like mac ‘n’ cheese with a cognac peppercorn sauce or whole avocado with quinoa and chipotle sauce. For American food with a bit of an Asian twist, guests will want to hit up Burton’s Grill & Bar for some of its General Tso’s Cauliflower or Philly Spring Rolls with sirloin, onions, and cheese.

The newly rebranded BRIO Coastal Bar & Kitchen is known for its shareable plates, like crispy calamari and whipped ricotta with pine nuts and tomatoes. Also in the southern areas of Charlotte, Rooney’s Market will be opening its doors and offering a long list of tapas, such as bacon-wrapped dates or whipped feta and roasted red pepper crostinis.

WP Kitchen & Bar will be pairing its tapas and wine for maximum flavor, like a 2015 Wolfgang Puck Sauvignon Blanc with Octopus Carpaccio or its 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon with Korean Short Ribs. Dean & Deluca Wine Room will also be pairing its tapas with select wines, such as Dungeness Crab Cakes paired with a 2015 Folktale Chardonnay from Monterey.

Charlotte Wine and Tapas Week is hosted by Elevate Lifestyle and will be printing an accompanying magazine, produced by Belles Creative, for this year’s schedule. Reservations are encouraged for the event and can be made through its website.
