Looking for quick, made-to-order Thai food? Rivergate’s newest restaurant, a fast-casual Thai spot, will whip you up a fresh Pad Thai in less than 3 minutes — along with 300 other customizable dishes. Canadian-based Thai Express will open its first N.C. franchise at 12807 South Tryon St. Suite E-200 later this year in the Rivergate Shopping Center.
“Charlotte residents are going to fall in love with Thai Express, just as the franchisees did when they tried it for the first time. This isn’t going to be a traditional mom-and-pop Thai restaurant,” said Ray Zandi, U.S. VP of Franchise Development.
“The location that is opening will be custom designed with a strong focus on feng shui and include patterned colors and graphics that feature the Thai national animal, the elephant, which symbolizes strength, durability, and longevity,” Zandi said. “With each dish being cooked from scratch, right in front of you upon ordering, Thai Express will be serving up dinner and a show in Charlotte.”
More Charlotte locations planned
The franchises will be run by a local couple. “In addition to the Rivergate Shopping Center location, the owners are scouting the perfect locations for their other two Thai Expresses in trendy and up-and-coming neighborhoods. Specifically, they’re looking at spots downtown and in Pineville,” says Ray Zandi.
Thai Express opened started with 5 locations in Canada in 2004. The company has now grown to over 300 franchised locations across North America.
