Charlotte restaurants are shaking things up a bit by including the “water of the South” in their cocktails—sweet tea. I must admit, coming from up north, sweet tea was one of the highlights of moving south. Now, Charlotte restaurants are upping the ante by adding this not-so-secret ingredient to their cocktails.

Here are 6 sweet tea cocktails worth a try around town:

BlackFinn Iced Tea at Blackfinn Ameripub, $9

The signature BlackFinn Iced Tea includes housemade sweet tea, freshly squeezed lemonade, and Pinnacle vodka.

Rockin’ the Stashe at The Cowfish, $12

4310 Sharon Road

With sweet tea used more as a garnish, the Rockin’ the Stashe handcrafted cocktail includes barrel rested gin with black tea ancho syrup served over a sweet tea ice cube.

The Tipsy Palmer at Topgolf, $8.50

A fun take on the original Arnold Palmer non-alcoholic beverage, The Tipsy Palmer drink at Topgolf is made with Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka, Absolut Citron, freshly brewed iced tea and fresh lemon.

The Birdie at Gallery Restaurant, $12

At Gallery Restaurant, located inside the Ballantyne Hotel, side up to the bar and order The Birdie. It includes Grey Goose vodka, iced tea, and lemonade.

Georgia Peach Tea at Boardwalk Billy’s, $8

Located in the Shoppes at University Place, Boardwalk Billy’s Raw Bar & Ribs has the Georgia Peach Tea, made with vodka, Jim Beam, Southern Comfort, peach schnapps and their own house-brewed sweet tea. It’s a great beverage to have on their patio, on a hot southern day. It’s refreshing, with a kick.

I mean, it’s 80 degrees outside. You should be on a patio drinking.

Taco Mac tries their hand at the Georgia Peach Tea too, and includes Absolut vodka and sweet tea mixed with citrus sour and peach syrup.

Bonus: Make your own

If you want to make your own cocktail, try this recipe for a Sandbar Sweet Tea from Muddy River Distillery. The ingredients you’ll need for this drink are Carolina Rum, sweet tea, mint, orange peel.

Directions: Muddle 6-8 mint leaves

Add 2 oz. Carolina Rum to a pint glass

Add ice and fill with sweet tea

Garnish with an orange peel or mint leaves
