NoDa’s hopping craft beer scene will get even larger next month when Salud Beer Shop opens its new taproom and expanded brewery, Salud Cerveceria.
Owner Jason Glunt said he’s aiming to open the taproom June 3.
The C5 team got a peek inside the taproom earlier this week, and the former NoDa Upstage space looks totally different than it did when we first visited back in January. Now the space has rustic wood floors, exposed brick on the walls, white subway tile behind the bar, an incredible new mural by Brett Toukatly behind the stage, and a lounge area with comfy leather chairs and couches surrounding a window overlooking the street.
Here’s what we know about Salud Cerveceria so far:
– The 3,100 square-foot taproom is right above the current Salud Beer Shop and FūD at Salud locations (3306 N. Davidson St.).
– Salud was already brewing small batches of beer before deciding to open the Cerveceria, but this will expand its operations. Until Salud gets its own brewing system, head brewer Adam Glover is using an eight-barrel system at Heist. Eventually there will be two 15-barrel foeders to blend and ferment sours and “wild ales” in the current FūD at Salud dining room.
– The Cerveceria plans to have 10-12 beers on tap when it opens. Expect a mix of “clean” beers (lagers, ales and Saisons) and funky/sour beers. And those small batches will go fast. “I want to make beers that we enjoy,” Glover told C5 in January.
– FūD at Salud will also expand its menu and be available in the new taproom and in its original location.
