The home of South End’s meatball cone is being converted into a Sabor next month

South End’s fast-casual Italian restaurant Fidelli Kitchen certainly had some of the quirkiest menu item concepts in all the city, like the Meatball Bread Rocket (a portable hoagie stuffed with meatballs) and the Meatball Cone (just what it sounds like). The restaurant hasn’t even served the neighborhood for two years — and it’s just been purchased by Raydal Hospitality, the ownership group of local Latin American hotspot Sabor Latin Street Grill.

The space at 1616 Camden Road, Suite #100, will be immediately turned into the 11th Sabor location, according to Raydal CEO Dalton Espaillat. It is expected to reopen as Sabor in late September.

However, the purchase agreement with Fidelli owner Scott Richards is to later redevelop and relaunch the Fidelli Kitchen concept, since both fit under the family-friendly and budget-friendly umbrella with an emphasis on authentic food.

“Our Sabor menu is highly customizable,” Espaillat said in a press release. “Our flavors are bold. Our ingredients are fresh. We plan to do the same with Fidelli.”

For now, bring on the yuca fries, quinoa avocado bowls, margaritas and $1 Taco Tuesdays we know and love at Sabor.
