As if today being Friday isn’t enough, it’s also the annual “holiday” that honors that perfect combination of tequila, triple sec, salt and lime.
It’s such a celebrated drink that it even has a local podcast named after it. The Margarita Confessionals co-host Ali Washburn said the podcast name came about “because of our deep love for margarita nights and because tequila is the ultimate truth serum — a conversation with your bff is way better after a few margs.”
Cheers to that.
There’s more than one way to drink a margarita, however. All over Charlotte, local watering holes are breaking out the classics and the twist on the classics.
Whether you prefer savory, sweet, spicy or traditional, here are 5 ways to celebrate:
110 N. College Street
BLT Steak will offer The Burro Margarita — 18 Herradura Silver, Cointreau, pineapple, lime juice, ginger beer, jalapeno and cilantro syrup — for half off all day today.
1100 Metropolitan Avenue
Hickory Tavern at The Met will have $5 Sauza Margaritas all day. If you like the classic taste of a margarita, this is their traditional house version.
5610 Carnegie Blvd.
Legion Brewing SouthPark has created a Blood Orange Amigo Margarita, made of Casamigos tequila, house-made rosemary syrup and blood orange puree.
6401 Morrison Boulevard #8A
All weekend, Paco’s will be serving up a special Blackberry-Basil Infused Tequila and a Jalapeño Kumquat Margarita.
Sabor’s Amigos Margaritas will be $5. That is the standing Friday special — so technically, they are celebrating Margarita Day every Friday. We’re in.
345 South Kings Drive
One of these things is not like the other: Uncle Maddio’s Pizza suggested a completely different way to honor the day typically celebrated with tequila. Hey, we gotta eat. Their Margherita pizza is created with a homemade pizza crust, garlic olive oil, fresh and shredded mozzarella, sliced roma tomatoes, salt, pepper and basil.
This is just a small sampling of the margaritas Charlotte has to offer. What’s your favorite margarita in town? Let us know in the comments.
