We’ve previously announced the “death” of South End, due to the closing of beloved neighborhood cultural spots like Tremont Music Hall, Amos’ Southend, the original Common Market South End and Phat Burrito. Well, the area is starting to regain its soul. Partially because a new Common Market is in the works — but also because a new concert venue is finally about to open.
The Music Yard, tucked in between SouthBound (plus Backstage Lounge) and Mac’s Speed Shop at 2433 South Blvd., is opening this month with a free kick-off event Friday, March 23. The event is followed by a free Spring Concert Series Saturdays in April and May.
The March kick-off will feature Honey Island Swamp Band and opening act Leisure McCorkle.
During the spring series, the shows will go on rain or shine, a full bar will be open for drink purchases and SouthBound’s Taco Stand will be open for food purchases.
