We get it—all your friends are having babies, while you live alone with your dog and the only person you are typically responsible for buying gifts for is your mother. Then, all the sudden, your friend or sibling has a baby and you’re stuck playing the role of auntie or uncle. With that comes the biggest responsibility of all: buying a kick-ass gift for baby’s first Christmas.

So where do you go when you have literally no idea how to purchase things for a brand-new baby? As a parent, I’ll tell you what we don’t want our babies to have: more sh*t we have to put away and that serves literally no purpose.

Check out these tips on what to buy so that new baby and new parents will be singing your praises loud for all the hear.

Cassie Carpenter is a beam of light, and her East Boulevard shop is the personification of her personality. Organic Cuddles

This Charlotte-run-and-curated online boutique boasts the tagline “New norms for newborns.” Organic Cuddles’ clothing is organic cotton, which is perfect for new parents hoping to keep their little one free of impurities. Alongside their baby clothing, you’ll find cloth diapers, blankets and baby wraps.

Just Perfect

I love a feel-good kids book that leaves you knowing you’re making a difference. “Just Perfect,” written by Charlotte author Kimberley Mohns Roberts, is a book about self-acceptance and it is truly never too early to teach these values.

C5 Pro Tip: You can find this book at CLT Find and Argyle Alligator.

Blue Sage

Opened after the birth of her son in January 2016, Catherine Wellington runs this site with about 15 different product lines, serving newborns to 6-year-olds. There are tons of clothing options, blankets and hair accessories, but I’ve got to admit, I’m just a little smitten with this knit donut rattler.
