Health Information Specialist. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with The Pines at Davidson, Inc., a high quality, nonprofit continuing care retirement community (“CCRC”) in Davidson, NC. The Pines operates a 30-bed assisted living unit and a 51-bed nursing unit on a private pay basis (i.e. The Pines is not Medicare or Medicaid certified). The position reports to the Director of Nursing. This position will serve as an important member of a selection and implementation project team tasked with replacing The Pines’ manual medical records with an electronic medical record (“EMR”) system for independent living and health care residents. Thereafter, this position will analyze and manage the EMR system, ensuring residents’ health information and records are complete, accurate and protected. The position will interface with other healthcare providers serving The Pines’ residents such as hospitals, physicians, physical therapists, podiatrists and mobile dentists. The position supports residents who file long term care insurance claims and includes other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing including assisting with the billing function. Associate degree in Health Information Technology (“HIT”) or HIT Certificate or equivalent is required. Strong organizational and communications skills, experience with electronic medical records including knowledge of HIPAA, medical terminology and general medical records procedures are required.
Compensation & benefits. Compensation for this position will be competitive within the industry and with major local companies.
