Since 2002, Jeni Britton Bauer has been creating and mixing up some of the best ice cream across the country. She opened Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream in Columbus, Ohio, and the popular shop officially made its way to Charlotte last August — the first for North Carolina.
Now, less than a year later, the Queen City is welcoming a second location to the NoDa neighborhood.
“We’re so excited to be opening in NoDa,” Britton Bauer told CharlotteFive. “The district is creative, historic and inspiring. We felt like we had to be there.”
The newest location will officially open its doors on June 27, with a grand opening party that starts at 7 p.m. In addition to free ice cream for all, the first 50 guests will receive swag bags. Britton Bauer will be there to celebrate, as well.
“We’ve got some fun new flavors coming up that we can’t wait to share with the community,” she said.
The South End store has consistently seen long lines, with residents patiently waiting to get their hands on a scoop of the uniquely inspired flavors. Fan favorites include the Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Frose Sorbet and the Sweet Cream Biscuits and Peach Jam. Jeni’s also has a few non-dairy options.
In addition to the ice cream, customers love the super colorful heart wall located just around the back of the South End building. Not to be outdone, the NoDa shop will feature a colorful confetti striped-wall perfect for your next social media photo. Inside, there will be a waffle cone-making station, as well as fun social seating area that’s also great for picture taking.
“We love Charlotte, and we’re honored to see that Charlotte loves us right back. When our local customers asked for more scoop shops, we had to listen,” Britton Bauer said.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream in NoDa is located at 416 E. 36th St., Ste. 400. It will be open every day from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
