About the Independence Fund
The Independence Fund works hard to improve the lives of not only Veterans, but also their loved ones. The Fund is comprised of four pillars of support: the Mobility, Caregiver, Adaptive Sports, and Advocacy programs. Through these distinctive concentrations, The Independence Fund helps provide for the previously unmet needs of Veterans and their caregivers.
The Mobility Program provides Veterans with the opportunity to get outside and enjoy outdoor activities through a variety of devices including all-terrain wheelchairs and adaptive bicycles.
The Caregiver program serves the caregivers to the nation’s heroes. Caregivers are given a break from their demanding 24/7 role of military caregiving. The program centers on peer-to-peer support, respite, as well as restorative and well-deserved pampering services.
The Adaptive Sports Program provides Veterans with the opportunity for better physical and mental well-being, along with increased independence, purpose and social interaction. Additionally, this program provides grants to adaptive sports organizations, funding for attendance at adaptive sports-related events and funding for Veteran’s sports equipment.
The Independence Fund customizes the family program to provide aftercare that is appropriately suited for each individual family. The Independence Fund’s Family Program offers art therapy, respite and comprehensive individual aftercare.
