A California-based burger chain known for its charburgers, sushi-grade tuna sandwiches and veggie burgers has announced May 2 as the opening date for its Midtown location. The Habit Burger Grill’s first North Carolina restaurant will be located at 209 S. Kings Drive, Suite 203.

“The Habit Burger Grill is thrilled to be bringing our award-winning, flame grilled charburgers to the Charlotte community. As our first location in North Carolina, we are eager to introduce Charlotte burger fanatics to our menu and become their go-to dining out option,” CEO Russ Bendel, CEO said. “We continue to grow our Habit Burger fan base and know that there will be something for everyone to love at our new restaurant.”

The original restaurant opened in 1969 in Santa Barbara. The chain now operates more than 250 restaurants across 11 states and 4 countries.

“Charlotte is definitely a burger community, and it only seems fitting that The Habit Burger Grill bring its delicious, flame-grilled charburgers to this market,” said Sophia Shakola, a representative for The Habit.

“At The Habit Burger Grill, we believe it’s not the same without the flame. Chargrilled burgers are at the center of The Habit’s menu and they are always fresh, never frozen and made to order. Whether you like it with cheese or without, a Habit burger is always juicy and satisfying,” Shakola said.

When you check out The Habit Burger, you’ll also be able to indulge on made-to-order sandwiches, including an Italian Chicken Ciabatta sandwich with genoa salami, melted mozzarella, housemade pesto aioli, lettuce and tomato on hand-rolled ciabatta bread.

Sides will include their limited-time Siracha lime spicy tempura green beans, handmade milkshakes and made-to-order salads.

  1. They pulled out of the deal. I also saw where they have closed some stores. Raleigh and NYC due to health dept violations. A famous name will only take you so far.

  2. I’m so excited for The Havit to open here! Born and raised in San Diego and this was one of my favorites! Hope they open more here including south Charlotte!
