10 unique places to throw an engagement party in the Charlotte area

If you are recently engaged or know anyone who is, you know it is instantly time to celebrate. Planning an engagement party is not difficult once you get things started. The party can be immediately after the engagement, months later, very casual or formal. It is simply a fun excuse to mingle and celebrate a special time with those you love.

When my now-husband and I got engaged, we were living in separate cities and he was in law school, so we had multiple unofficial engagement celebrations with friends and family. We celebrated with family immediately after in a very intimate gathering, and later rented a bus for a vineyard crawl in the Yadkin Valley outside of Winston-Salem.

The Broken Spoke/Great Wagon Road

227 Southside Dr

The oldest distillery in Mecklenburg County combined with a stunning craft bar makes for a warm and inviting atmosphere. The second story is my personal favorite part of the space. It has comfortable leather couches and chairs as well as dining seating. It can accommodate up to 100 people.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

6500 South New Hope Rd; Belmont, NC

Daniel Stowe is beautiful no matter the season and has indoor space, outdoor space, and covered outdoor space options. My sister and brother-in-law got married in these spectacular gardens last year, where guests enjoyed the stunning gardens, glistening fountains and orchid and tropical plant conservatory.

Prices: event packages start at $500-$1,200

Dilworth Tasting Room

300 E Tremont Ave

This wine bar’s charming courtyard patio feels like a secret garden getaway in the middle of Dilworth. While Dilworth Tasting Room is on the small side compared to other spots, it does have multiple private event options including a private room for rent. There are also partial dining area rentals, or the option to rent out the entire restaurant.

Prices: minimum starting at $1,500-$12,000

Lenny Boy Brewing Co.

3000 S Tryon St

Some friends recently had their engagement party here and they put their own spin on the roomy new indoor space, with live music from one of their favorite bands throughout the night. It is the perfect customizable low-key space to enjoy some beer and kombucha with family and friends.

Prices: Starting at $50-$300/hour

Merchant and Trade

303 S Church St

Located atop the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel in Uptown, this rooftop lounge has plenty of greenery and modern décor creating a welcoming vibe. Guests can also take in the view during any weather under the covered terrace.

Prices: starting at $500 (minimum plus rental fee) depending on the size, day of week and space

Queen Park Social

4125 Yancey Rd

I recently attended an engagement party at this entertaining location and it was such a great time that no one wanted to leave. Throughout the night guests enjoyed countless games and enjoyed the good food and drinks.

Prices: No rental fees for first-come-first-serve tables in the game room for a flexible, casual group vibe. Other areas of the social club are available for rent for parties with a minimum of 20 people starting at $250.

RuRu’s Tacos + Tequila 

715 Providence Rd

A festive place to celebrate with loved ones, RuRu’s has a gorgeous patio, multiple dining rooms, and a cozy tequila room that could be the lively setting for a fun engagement party.

Prices: lower dining room rental starts around $2,500 on Friday or Saturday nights

Sugar Creek Brewing Company

215 Southside Dr.

Sugar Creek’s room for private events is handsomely decorated and large at 2,000 square feet. It has a private outdoor area and private bar, and Sugar Creek does a wonderful job of letting the couple do what is suitable for them, allowing outside catering or providing food services if the couple wishes. They also have the Tap Room and Warehouse available for rent.

Prices: starting at $225 per hour, venue rental

Treehouse Vineyards

301 Bay St, Monroe

This elegant and rustic setting can be customized for a smaller intimate gathering or a larger event according to your budget. There are indoor/covered options as well as outdoor spaces with striking views of the vineyard.

Prices: starting at $50-$75/hour Monday-Friday, Starting at $75-$150/hour Saturday and Sunday

Vivace

1100 Metropolitan Ave

Vivace has many event options including intimate dinners at their chef’s table and renting out the private upstairs dining room­­, which has its own terrace overlooking the Charlotte skyline. The location of my sister and brother-in-law’s rehearsal dinner, it really does make for an unforgettable venue to enjoy with friends and family.

Prices: upstairs minimum starting at $3,500 on Friday and Saturday nights
