Akshra Paimagam, a 14-year-old eighth-grader at Randolph Middle School, spelled “decumbiture” to win the 2017 Charlotte Observer Spelling Bee, which I judged for the second year Monday.
I tested the office yesterday afternoon and only one person — Tracie Stafford-Choate — spelled the winning word correctly. Are you smarter than an eighth grader (and most of the C5 team)? Find out by taking the C5 Spelling Bee quiz below.
All 10 of the words in the quiz were spelled correctly by one of the elementary or middle schoolers in yesterday’s bee. I provided the definition, all you have to do is pick the correct spelling.
