The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is a jewel of a museum located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. More than a museum, the Bechtler is also a unique venue for corporate events. The museum provides a stunning backdrop for corporate receptions, dinners, meetings, retreats, board luncheons, and more. Whether the event is indoor, outdoor, or both, the museum provides an elegant yet modern space for any event.
The Bechtler has four distinct rental spaces as outlined below. Open to the public until 5 p.m., rental events are held after the museum has closed. However, the museum is closed to the public all day Tuesday, and events can be hosted during the day while the museum is closed.
The Bechtler Lobby
Rental rate: $2,000; $1,600 for non-profits.
Elegant and spacious, the museum’s lobby is the location of choice for many corporate and social events. The Lobby can accommodate 120 guests for a seated dinner or accommodate as many as 180 guests for a cocktail-style reception.
Lobby + Plaza
Rental rate: $2,800; $2,200 for non-profits.
An excellent choice for roaming, cocktail-style events, the Lobby and Plaza combination provides access to both indoor and outdoor spaces. The added outdoor space makes this selection perfect for large galas, as the lobby and plaza can accommodate a combined 375 people.
The 2nd Floor Sculpture Terrace
Rental rate: $1,000; $800 for non-profits.
On the second floor, the terrace overlooks the Firebird and South Tryon and is ideal for smaller, more intimate events. If your event is a sit-down dinner, the Terrace can accommodate up to 30 guests. Cocktail receptions have a standing capacity of 50 guests.
The 2nd Floor Classroom
Rental rate: $600; $500 for non-profits.
The fourth and final Bechtler locale that can be booked is the second-floor classroom. This room may be rented during museum hours, unlike the above spaces. Perfect for workshops, board meetings, training sessions, presentations, luncheons and similar events, the room can seat 30 guests classroom-style or up to 50 guests theater-style.
