Popular mixologist Bob Peters, who has proven his cocktail-crafting talent to the point of getting featured in publications like Garden & Gun and Southern Living, announced on his Facebook on May 17 that he is moving on.

“I will be forming my own beverage consultancy, Bob Peters LLC,” he wrote, “which will give me total creative freedom and more flexibility to work with new food and beverage brands and help them delight their customers.”

He told the Observer, “It’s not that big a deal,” but that he will work as a consultant to assist restaurants and clubs in establishing cocktail programs.

Peters, who has always welcomed guests to the swanky Punch Room on the 15th floor of The Ritz-Carlton-Charlotte like a host inviting you into his living room, also hinted that he’s working on a beverage concept of his own.

“Know that my passion and commitment to craft are what has driven me to elevate the cocktail experience here in Charlotte,” he wrote on Facebook.

The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte shared that while they are in the process of recruiting for The Punch Room’s head mixologist role, Genevieve, Peters’ former apprentice, will serve as mixologist in the interim.

Peters has already popped up as a guest mixologist at another bar — he was mixing at Smokey Joe’s Cafe this weekend.

We’ll have to wait to see what’s next.

He told the Observer, “My big goal is to put Charlotte on the map, to make Charlotte a destination for culinary programs and cocktails.”
