Bill Murray — longtime comedian, actor, SNL alum, recipient of the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and gopher chaser — is bringing his show Bill Murray, Jan Vogler, and Friends: New Worlds to the Belk Theater for one night only: October 2.
Collaboration and cooperation
Bill Murray met the show’s other headliner, Jan Vogler, on a flight and the two quickly became friends. 67-year old Murray and Vogler, a native of East Berlin, were curious about each others work, passions and interests. So, they decided to work together on a project.
The result is a two-hour show which includes numerous encores (each one zanier than the last) and a four-star cast that creates a world of harmony, excitement and top-notch entertainment.
Literature, music, friendship and more
For New Worlds, Murray provides the vocals including readings from beloved American literature, Vogler amazes on the the cello, Mira Wang is a child prodigy turned virtuoso soloist and Vanessa Perez brings humor and wit to the ivory keys.
The performers intertwine chamber music and classical tunes with passages from Twain, Hemingway, Whitman, Cooper, Bernstein, Gershwin, Foster and others to create a charming masterpiece.
