Take a look at the beloved community of Biddleville and Smallwood, the city’s next up-and-coming neighborhoods

This post is brought to you in partnership with Savvy + Co. Real Estate.  All opinions are our own.

As Charlotte continues to boom, a well-designed and walkable neighborhood with tree-lined streets, easy access to Uptown and a great mix of people doesn’t stay secret for very long. That has quickly become the case with the Biddleville and Smallwood neighborhoods located on the west side of the city.

This area has smaller, vintage, bungalow-style homes as well as new construction in the low-to-mid $500s. Like other older residential neighborhoods close to the heart of the city, this area is changing quickly. The CATS Gold Line extension is slated to arrive in 2020 going up to French Street, adding even more commuter convenience to the area’s already close proximity to I-77, I-85 and Hwy. 16.

In the past, West Trade Street was a dividing line between the traditionally African-American Biddleville and predominately white Smallwood. Today, those boundaries have been more or less dissolved. Now, residents refer to the neighborhood as a “beloved community,” where people of all races, ages and professions reside.

Jennifer Monroe of Savvy + Co. Real Estate has an extensive background in home construction and working with builders, and she encourages buyers to take a look at this up and coming neighborhood.

“One aspect worth knowing is you can get the exact same home by the same builder for about $100K less than some other neighborhoods,” said Jennifer. “This area is a fantastic bargain because it is less well known and not on the radar like Villa Heights, Belmont or NoDa.”

If living in a close-knit, urban area near Uptown in an established neighborhood with a bit of history sounds right up your alley, give Jennifer a call. In the meantime, take a look at these fab homes.
