Award-winning shows coming to Blumenthal this season – bet we can guess your favorite [Partner]

Blumenthal has a stellar reputation for bringing the best show stoppers to Charlotte. From beloved classics to the newest titles and tales for the entire family – these theatre aficionados do not disappoint. This upcoming season is no different. And although it is seemingly impossible to choose a favorite with an outstanding line up including “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables” and “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical,” we bet we can guess which one tops your list.

“The Phantom of the Opera”

Personality type: Heartfelt romantic with a dark place and love of candles
Favorite color: Black and white
Favorite Broadway tune: “The Music of the Night”
More info: We know nothing quite warms your heart like a man wearing half a mask, a damsel in distress and huge, larger-than-life chandelier. Speaking of large light fixtures that weight over a ton, the “The Phantom of the Opera” chandelier has over 6,000 beads and was designed by Howard Eaton who created the Olympic rings for the London games. Don’t miss this classic Broadway production that is bigger and better than ever, just watch your head.

“Les Miserables”

Personality type: Enjoys stories of broken dreams, unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption (usually in the same day)
Favorite color: Blue, white and red
Favorite Broadway tune: “I Dreamed a Dream”
More info: “Les Miserables” proves you can’t see a perfectly crafted musical too many times. Inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, “Les Miserables” brings together unforgettable characters, powerful lyrics and the timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Whether this is your first time seeing this Tony Award-winning show or your 100th, the world’s most popular musical never disappoints.

“Beautiful – The Carole King Musical”

Personalty type: Loves great music and biographies of people who have shaped the world
Favorite color: Red and white
Favorite Broadway tune: “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”
More info: If you are all about the back story, “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical” is definitely for you. Carole King was the song writer behind popular tunes including “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “You’ve Got a Friend” and “The Locomotion.” During her rise to stardom, King wrote the soundtrack of a generation. We can personally guarantee toe-tapping during this performance.

If you aren’t into tough decisions (we aren’t), why not enjoy these musicals AND “The Lion King” and “The Book of Mormon” with the Encore Series. There’s more to you than meets the eye so we say enjoy the full array of performances this season and all the perks that come with being an Encore Ticket holder.

  1. Les Misérables the play is based on the French historical novel of the same name by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862, not paintings of Victor Hugo.
