Finally! Perfect fall weather is right around the corner.
Forget fantasy football — get up and play some flag football, volleyball or soccer IRL. An no, intramural teams are not just for college. Social sports leagues are way more popular in Charlotte than I realized. They offer ways to make new friends and stay active.
Here are 7 local leagues with fall signups coming up very soon:
Sportslink offers an array of sports teams from bowling, basketball, floor hockey, kickball, outdoor soccer, indoor soccer, softball, ultimate frisbee, indoor volleyball, sand volleyball and bootcamp.
It just started a new program, the +10 program, where Sportslink donates an additional $10 from the team’s sign up fee to organizations benefiting the area’s disadvantaged population. They have contributed to organizations like Hands on Charlotte and Habitat for Humanity.
Cost: $55-95 per player, $225-$470 for teams
QC Flag Football is mostly for the fellas but they do have a coed option. Ladies and guys can also register as individuals to be placed as free agents.
