In April, we reported Milestone Irish Pub and Kitchen would open this summer. With construction taking longer than expected and a name change, owner Jackie McHugh now plans to open The Rogue the second week of September.

Inside, the pub will have 105 chairs, eight TVs and a 150-inch drop-down projector perfect for soccer, football and rugby — some of McHugh’s favorite sports to watch.

The bar is 44 feet long and has about 800-900 square feet of total bar space.

“With 12 taps, you’ll find everything you need,” said McHugh. There will even be a frozen margarita machine to make frozen Irish coffees.

There’s no big surprises on the menu.

“We’ll have good honest pub food with an Irish flair thrown in,” said McHugh.

Justin Mendenhall, a former chef at Georges Brasserie and Cafe Monte, is helping out with the menu, which will include items like braised lamb shoulder and shepherd’s pie.

McHugh originally planned to name the bar Milestone after his son, Miles. Charlotte already has a Milestone Club, though — a music venue that’s been around since 1969. After getting feedback from the public about the name, McHugh decided to call the bar The Rogue.

The Rogue is located at 1315 East Blvd., Suite 130, and will be open Monday-Friday 11 a.m-2 a.m., and Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-2 a.m.
