Brewery hopping is in, haven’t you heard? Good thing Daniel Hartis has tracked down two new spots for you to try: Wooden Robot in South End and Free Range in NoDa.

We have a lot to learn from him and are so pumped we wish we could find our beer helmets from our less-sophisticated college days. No luck. So let’s study up on the new offerings and enjoy the suds.

Spark notes for Wooden Robot Brewery:

Location: 1440 S. Tryon St., Suite 100 in South End

Founders: Dan Wade and Josh Patton

Hours: 

Tap Room Hours: Thursday from 4-9 p.m., Friday from 4-10 p.m., Saturday from 2-10 p.m. , Sunday from 2-8 p.m.

What it stands for: “That artisanal, farmhouse, Belgian tradition,” Wade told Hartis. “And the robot represents the American innovative spirit.”

Brew style: Eight taps with hoppier American styles and eight taps with farmhouse or Belgian-influenced beers.

Location: 2320 N. Davidson St. in NoDa

Founders: Brothers Jason and Jeff Alexander

Hours: 5-10 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

What it stands for: All things local. “We want to work with as much local, seasonal and relevant stuff as we can,” Jason said to Hartis.

Brew style: “As far as styles go, anything and everything,” Jason told Hartis. “Nothing is off limits.”
