Summer may be winding down, but you can still enjoy the last notes of music in the park along with great eats and drinks. At Live On The Green, a new concert series in Charlotte, you’ll get to unwind with Bluegrass and Americana music, tasty food trucks and local craft beer. This Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12, you can kick off this free music festival in the Queen City.

Here’s how you can plan your weekend in the park:

First Ward Park, Friday, August 11. Starting at 7 p.m.

Listen to bluegrass on a picnic blanket. The Colorado-based artist, known as The Jeff Austin Band, has been performing for nearly 20 years. He’s played at The Fillmore Auditorium, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and outdoor events like Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Telluride Bluegrass Festival, so he’s bringing his experience jamming in concert and sounds from theater to First Ward Park. He loves interacting with audiences. “I hope they take with them exactly what I hope they leave with us,” he says. “And that’s inspiration.”

Grab food truck eats. Whether you’re in the mood for ice cream or a sandwich, you’ll have your pick of eateries on wheels. Choose between Spoon’s BBQ, Goldfingers Funnel Cakes, The Sandwich Truck, Emergensweets, and Kona Ice.

Drink your favorite local beers (and wine). You’ll be able to pick from your favorite breweries: Birdsong, Free Range and Legion at one of the nearby tents.

Romare Bearden Park, Saturday, August 12. Starting at 6 p.m.

Listen to bluesy rock/folk in the park. Singer Davy Knowles loves exploring energetic, guitar-driven blues rock, and you’ll get to see this blues guitar aficionado live and in person. “I love the guitar as an instrument,” he says. “It’s so versatile and endlessly challenging.”

Enjoy food truck treats. Choose between Ruthie’s of Charlotte, Cuzzo’s Cuisine, Junior Scoops, Emergensweets, and Kona Ice for a light snack or full meal.

Drink your favorite local beers. You’ll be able to pick from your favorite breweries: Birdsong, Free Range and Legion at one of the nearby tents.
