Imagine a place where you can get coffee, relax with friends and be in the company of adoptable kitties. That idea will become a reality for Charlotte cat lovers at Mac Tabby Cat Café, which is expected to open Nov. 11 in Area 15 on N. Davidson Street.
Mac Tabby Cat Café will be a community hang out.
Owner Lori Konawalik has partnered with Catering to Cats and Dogs, a local nonprofit that rescues cats from high-kill facilities prior to their PTS (put-to-sleep) date. Mac Tabby will become the foster home for those cats until they are adopted.
Keeping it local.
Mac Tabby will have local art on the interior walls, Charlotte musicians playing throughout the day, pet-friendly snacks provided by Pet Wants Charlotte, kitty cat yoga, art classes and more.
Mac Tabby Kickstarter.
The café is looking for some help before it opens. The cafés Kickstarter is nearly half funded with about 22 days remaining. The funds will go toward opening opening expenses, like permits and the lease.
Mac Tabby is hosting an hourlong yoga class with cats as part of its campaign. Pledges of $150 or more are required to participate. Sydney Duarte with NoDa Yoga will teach the 20-person class at 7 p.m. Sept. 21.
Mac Tabby is located inside the Area 15 building at 516 E. 15th Street, Suite D.
And remember — as much as you might want to, you can’t bring your own cat. Mac Tabby has that part covered.
