Imagine the look on the chef’s face when the servers stroll into the kitchen and announce, “A table of 550 just walked in.”
That giant party will be set Sept. 8 outdoors (rain or shine) at NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza for the 3rd annual ASC Culture Feast. Downtown Cornelius joins the fun at a second location added this year for the festivities on the same evening hosted by the towns of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville.
Developed in 2015 to bring Charlotte’s diverse community together in celebration of the city’s arts and cultural offerings, Culture Feast combines the power of sharing a meal, conversation and experiencing great local arts – all to build a more vibrant, connected community.
Arts & Science Council (ASC) officials noted the dinner event has sold out annually, yet the street party that follows is free and open to the all.
Artists and performances Uptown will include: Hip Hop Orchestrated, Latin musical group Chocala, a surprise science project from Discovery Place Science, Ragtime piano music, Choral music and sing-alongs, Spoken Word, pottery making and other surprises.
Cornelius will feature: Latin dance, Warehouse PAC performing selected Shakespeare works, North Mecklenburg County Community Chorus with sing-alongs, Davidson Community Players performing from “Annie,” cool science experiments from Discovery Place Science and special guest performances.
“We have seen how people from different neighborhoods, backgrounds, socio-economic levels, race and ethnicities, talk and connect with each other through arts and cultural experiences as well as a wonderful meal during Culture Feast,” said ASC President, Robert Bush, noting his pleasure at the expansion of the event and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from past years.
Immediately after the dinner, a free community dance party will take place featuring music by RevelWood Mission in Uptown Charlotte and the Lake Norman Big Band in downtown Cornelius.
Craft beer provided by Triple C Brewing Company and wine by Shelton Vineyards is included in the dinner ticket price (must be 21+). Vegetarian and vegan options are available in both locations.
