We’ve all been there.
Late for the airport and met by a massive line at security, we rush to our gate only to find the flight has been delayed – by two hours. Groan.
If this scene plays out on your outbound from Charlotte Douglas however, it doesn’t mean you have to spend the next 120 minutes of your life fighting for a plug-in to charge your phone or quaffing $8 brews at one of the over-priced airport lounges.
Hidden in plain site on the short D-E Terminal Connector is Terminal Getaway Spa, where men and women can leave the hurly-burly of crying babies, broken roller boards, and middle seats behind, if only for a short while.
Chair massage to work out the kinks? Check – you can get 10, 15, 20 or 30 minute Swedish and Deep Tissue style options here. They even offer “Jet Leg” and Foot Massages in 20 or 30 minute increments.
Want the “Bod Voyage” private full treatment massage? – That’s available too in 30 minute increments as is Body Mapping Reflexology.
Skin care such as express peel or hydrating facials and even back facials are offered for your tired and travel weary skin.
Waxing – including lip, chin, brows and bikini are popular services for beach travelers.
Need a mani or a pedi? TG has you covered.
“More than 90 percent of our clients are walk-ups,” said Quani Davis, one of the technicians at Terminal Getaway Spa. “No appointments are necessary. Our most popular treatments are the chair massges, but we have private treatment rooms and offer a complete range of services.”
The spa carries OPI line of nail polish for their patrons. Citrus aromatherapy towelettes and other travel amenities are offered for those on the go.
“Many women come in last minute before a business meeting or special getaway and want a nice mani or pedi to help them feel spruced up,” said Davis.
The spa, one of a group of several operated across the country at various airports, serves upwards of 200 clients on a single day.
